Digital Media!!!

Can I just say, I love my major!!! Yesterday, I was walking to class. In the hall I passed the assistant dean to my major in a serious conversation with one of the photography teachers. They were both bent over the assistant deans iPhone, absolutely discussed over DC comics new logo. Here is the logo throughout history.

Admittedly, when they do themes with it, its better.

But I still agree with the 2005 logo being the best.

That same assistant was also showing the dean a new game that he downloaded. And they were both geeking out about how some of the mechanics they had thought up for a game they were working on were found in this new game.

It made me reflect on the other fun conversations and things I see in the building where all the digital media classes are. A cute girl playing the DOTA2 beta (no really! She was for real playing it like a boss!), a conversation about how great the new Muppet's movie is, and a number of people can be seen playing video games at all times. Who knew that geek heaven could be found between two dozen classrooms and an elevator!

Delusions of Grandure

I'm part of a group on Facebook that is dedicated to waving your hand in front of an automatic door to feel like a Jedi. I realized the other day that, epicly walking through doors was only the beginning.

I was walking past some windows. It was a chilly day but not cold enough for a coat. I had my hood up on my hoodie, and as I passed into the view of these windows, I nearly fainted. For a brief moment, out of the corner of my vision, I was walking next to a Jedi!! As I turned to look, and realized that it was me, I caught this perfect 'face in shadows' thing. It was totally just like the movies! You could only see part of my nose and mouth. I felt epic! Total urban Jedi.

I wonder if I need a permit to carry a lighsaber..... Or maybe an asp baton....

Squeaky–Clean

So I showered this morning. It was nice. I naturally woke up shortly before my alarm. Normally that would suck, but today it was ok. The shower was nice and warm, due to no one else being up yet. When I got out I was asked if I was clean. To which I replied 'squeaky'. Naturally the response to that was a finger running down my arm. So, of course, I said 'squeak'. I was then rebuffed! Apparently my squeak was to low! I told them to not judge me! So my squeaky-clean-ness makes lower noises than everyone else! Does that make me a bad person?

In other news it's the middle of winter here in Utah. But it rained last night so I figured that everything would be covered in ice this morning. I was wrong. It was still soggy at 7:30 in the morning. Also, it's nice to be able to see the entire valley clearly. Thank you rain. I appreciate your work.

Here is your sign...

I am in the presidency for my universities fencing club. So, i was naturally manning the table to gather some new members. There are lots of interesting people at my school, i decided. There are also some pretty oblivious ones....

A very cute girl walked up, And I do mean very cute. She looked to be Italian. Dark hair, Brown eyes, very tan, thin. I of course, stopped her, and started talking to her about the fencing club. I told her how fun it is, how exciting it is, how cheap it is for the semester, and handed her a flyer with the time and address of our practices. At this point we had been talking, about nothing but fencing for about two minutes. She stops, then asks me, like she just had an epiphany, "Oh! Do you fence?"

She was no longer cute....... at all......

Temptations!

So I had a brush with certain temptation today!
I was standing outside an early class waiting for the teacher to come and open the classroom. This is normal, because its everyone's first class of the day. So I got to looking around and noticed a fire alarm lever on the wall. There wasn't anything particularly special about it. It's the same type that you see everywhere. But for some reason, today, it was just calling my name!

I stared at it for what was a 10 minute eternity. How would it feel to push through the black plastic and pull the white lever? Would my fingers be strong enough? What would happen if I did it while no one was looking? Would I get caught? What would the punishment be? Would class be canceled? Would we still be responsible for the work we would have done in class?

In the end, I refrained. Mostly because the teacher showed up. He asked us if we thought his posterior would work today in opening the door. It did. The door has an electronic lock with one of those scanners that scans a thing that goes on a key ring. So, yes, he walked up and pressed his left cheek (where the keys were sitting) on the scanner.

I may have to report that to the janitor. I'd prefer it if that thing was wiped down. :P

First!

I know! I'm sorry! I hate it too. But ya'know.... I kinda had to. :P

So, i decided to start a blog today. nothing major, just a place to put my funny thoughts and things.

I suppose i should introduce myself. My name is Ross. I'm a Game Design student at Utah Valley University. Think about that for a bit and it should tell you everything that I would write about myself.
